After a week....

The early morning air in Mumbai was crisp, carrying a sense of anticipation as the convoy prepared to depart. Avantika stood awkwardly near the car, clutching the handle of her small suitcase while trying to ignore the amused glances from Raghav and Siya.

"Excited, Mrs. Soon-to-be-Singhania?" Raghav teased, a mischievous grin spreading across his face as he emphasized the last part.

"Raghav, stop it," Avantika mumbled, her cheeks turning pink.

Siya joined in, her tone playful. "Oh come on, Avantika. You're going to the Singhania Palace! Imagine yourself walking through those grand halls, dressed in royal attire, with Reyansh Singhania by your side."

Avantika groaned, "You two are impossible."

Raghav raised an eyebrow dramatically. "Impossible? No, no. We're just preparing you for your royal life ahead. Imagine Reyansh Singhaniya looking at you and saying, 'Welcome to your new world.'" He clasped his hands together mockingly, sending Siya into a fit of laughter.

Avantika tried to glare at them, but the flush in her cheeks betrayed her embarrassment. "Can we just focus on getting there, please?"

The teasing didn't stop during the journey. On the flight, Siya leaned over and whispered, "What do you think? Will Reyansh be waiting at the palace gates or in some dramatic spot like the balcony?"

Raghav added, "Definitely the balcony. He strikes me as the brooding, royal type."

Avantika rolled her eyes, trying to focus on something else but her mind kept wandering to what awaited her in Jodhpur.

Soon the whole Rathi family along with Raghav and Siya departed for Jodhpur.

❤️

The plane landed smoothly at Jodhpur Airport, and the warm desert air greeted everyone as they stepped onto the tarmac. The golden sunlight seemed to amplify the anticipation in the air as the Rathi family, along with Raghav, Siya, and seven-year-old Kiara, began moving toward the exit.

Avantika’s nerves were on edge, and Raghav, ever the joker, leaned close to whisper, “Place your bets—brooding Reyansh waiting on the balcony, or a royal procession with elephants?”

Siya grinned. “I’m thinking both. Brooding balcony and dramatic elephants.”

“Can you both stop?” Avantika hissed, glaring at them, though her heart raced at the thought of what awaited outside.

As they exited the airport, the scene before them was nothing short of royal. A line of black SUVs gleamed in the sunlight, each one a testament to the Singhania family's status. Standing near the lead vehicle were Reyansh and another man Avantika instantly recognized as Yash, his cousin and confidant. Both exuded authority in their own way—Reyansh with his commanding presence and Yash with his approachable smile. Reyansh wore a crisp white kurta paired with black aviators, while Yash donned a light blue kurta that mirrored his relaxed demeanor.

Reyansh removed his sunglasses as his gaze found Avantika instantly. His expression softened ever so slightly, while Yash stepped forward with an easy grin.

“Welcome to Jodhpur,” Yash greeted warmly, his tone putting everyone at ease. Reyansh nodded in agreement.

“Welcome,” he added, his deep voice carrying a warmth that was rare for him.

The Rathi family exchanged polite pleasantries, while Raghav and Siya stood slightly back, observing every move Reyansh made.

“You’d think he committed a crime with the way you’re staring,” Raghav murmured to Siya, who smirked.

“Well, he did take our friend away, didn’t he?” Siya replied, her eyes narrowing playfully as she assessed Reyansh.

Meanwhile, Kiara tugged on Avantika’s dupatta. “Where’s the scary uncle?” she asked, her big eyes scanning the crowd.

“Scary uncle?” Avantika repeated, confused not remembering the name given by her neice to her Soon-to-be-Husband.

“Yes,” Kiara insisted, looking around until her gaze landed on Reyansh. “Him!” she declared, pointing dramatically.

Everyone stifled a laugh as Reyansh, catching the attention, raised an eyebrow but didn’t comment.

“And where’s the chocolate uncle?” Kiara added, her tone hopeful.

“That would be me!” Yash declared with a grin, crouching to her level and pulling out a small chocolate bar from his pocket. Kiara’s face lit up as she accepted it, her earlier fear forgotten.

“Thank you, Yoo uncle,” she said happily before running back to Sneha and Yug.

As the group began moving toward the vehicles, Siya took the opportunity to step forward and greet Yash and Reyansh formally.

“I didn’t get the chance to meet you both in Mumbai,” she said, her tone friendly but sharp. “Siya Sheevastav, Avantika’s best friend.”

Reyansh nodded, his expression unreadable, while Yash smiled warmly. “Nice to meet you, Siya. I’ve heard a lot about you.”

“Good things, I hope,” she replied with a pointed look, her eyes briefly darting to Reyansh, who simply raised an eyebrow in response.

“Mostly,” Yash teased, diffusing the tension with his easy charm.

Reyansh’s focus, however, remained on Avantika as she interacted with Kiara and Sneha. Every glance, every subtle shift in his demeanor, didn’t go unnoticed by Raghav and Siya.

“You see that?” Raghav muttered.

“Yup,” Siya replied, crossing her arms.

“He’s up to something.”

“No doubt about it.”

Their quiet commentary continued as the group piled into the vehicles, the air thick with anticipation. Avantika sat next to Siya, who gave her a conspiratorial smile.

“Welcome to the royal drama,” Siya whispered.

Avantika sighed, already feeling like her life had taken a turn she hadn’t quite prepared for.

As the convoy neared the entrance to the Singhania Palace, the afternoon sun bathed the entire estate in a golden glow. The palace’s towering arches and grand courtyards shimmered under the heat, giving off an air of majestic serenity. The stone walls, intricately carved with delicate designs, reflected the richness of history, while the expansive gardens surrounding the palace added a sense of tranquility to the scene. Every inch of the palace seemed to echo the legacy of the Singhania family, its vastness almost overwhelming in its beauty.

As they approached the gates of Singhania Palace, Avantika's breath hitched. The massive iron gates slowly opened to reveal an awe-inspiring scene. The sprawling palace stood tall against the backdrop of the clear blue sky, its golden sandstone walls glowing in the sunlight.

Siya nudged Avantika. "Speechless, huh? Tumhara hee soon to be sasural hai."

Raghav added, "I'm almost jealous. Almost."

Before Avantika could respond, the car came to a halt, and the grandeur of the welcome overwhelmed her. Rows of palace staff, dressed in traditional Rajasthani attire, lined the pathway. Dhol players and a group of dancers began a synchronized Ghoomar performance as soon as beats of the drums and the jingling of anklets created an atmosphere of celebration.

Avantika hesitated at the car door, her nerves getting the better of her. Raghav leaned over and whispered, "Go on, your kingdom awaits."

Siya giggled. "Just don't trip. First impressions matter."

Flustered, Avantika stepped out, trying her best to appear composed. Whole Singhania family was at the door waiting for them.

When Rathi family was came to entrance Aaradhya, Reyansh's mother, was the first to greet her, holding a beautifully decorated aarti thali. Her smile was warm as she performed the aarti ritual, murmuring blessings for Avantika's new journey.

"Welcome, beta," Aaradhya said gently, placing a tika on Avantika's forehead and Pratap handed her a small silver coin.

Kamini, Reyansh's grandmother, stepped forward next, her regal demeanor softened by her kind smile. "Avantika, tumhare aane se yeh mahal aur roshan ho gaya hai."

Kiara, her eyes wide with curiosity, immediately caught sight of the aarti thali in Aaradhya’s hands. Her small face lit up with excitement. "Dadi, meri bhi aarti karo! Mai bhi aai hu Avi bua ke sath!" she exclaimed, rushing forward making everyone chuckle at her energy and straight attacks of words.

Aaradhya crouched down to her "Aapke bina kuch hota hai?" She said playfully twirling the thali around her making Kiara giggle.

After Kiara’s playful antics, Aaradhya moved on to complete the ceremony for the rest of the Rathi family. She did the aarti for Sayli and Digvijay, her touch soft and ceremonial. Then, she did the aarti for Yug and Sneha, followed by Raghav and Siya. The warmth of the gesture made Avantika feel both comforted and oddly distant, as if she were stepping into a world she wasn’t sure she belonged to yet.

Once the aarti ceremony was finished, Archana stepped forward with a red chili and began to ward off the evil eye, casting it over the entire group in a practiced motion. She made circular movements with the chili around their heads before tossing it away, ensuring the blessings of the family would continue without any ill fortune.

As they entered the Singhania Palace, the majestic interior took everyone’s breath away. The grand, marble floors gleamed in the soft glow of afternoon sunlight, reflecting off the intricate chandeliers that hung from the high ceilings. Ornate furniture, dark wood panels, and rich tapestries lined the walls, while portraits of past Singhania kings and queens stared down with regal pride. The air was cooler here, filled with the scent of sandalwood incense and fresh flowers from the palace gardens.

The family moved toward the grand family room, where an array of comfortable, yet opulent seating arrangements awaited. Large windows overlooked the sprawling grounds, letting in the warmth of the sun, casting golden beams across the room. Everyone began settling down, the older members of the Rathi family exchanging pleasantries with the Singhania elders, while Avantika, though overwhelmed by the splendor, quietly observed the interactions.

Conversations soon filled the air. Aaradhya and Sneha spoke about the upcoming plans for the ceremony, sharing details and making arrangements. Sayli and Digvijay were catching up with Raghavendra about mutual acquaintances and past events. Kamini and Archana, with their wealth of knowledge about palace life, were giving Avantika a crash course on the history of the Singhania family.

The room was filled with conversation, laughter, and the warmth of family. But it didn’t take long for the younger members of the group to grow restless.

“Why don’t we give you a tour of the palace?” Radha suggested, her voice full of enthusiasm. “There’s so much to see, and I’m sure you’ll love it.”

Vinesh added, “You won’t believe some of the secret rooms hidden in these walls. It’s like stepping into history.”

With that, the younger group—Radha, Vinesh, Avantika, Raghav, Siya, and Kiara—excitedly set off for their tour. Reyansh and Yash, who had been standing quietly, exchanged a look before joining them, ready to show them around. Kiara, ever the mischief-maker, darted ahead, eager to explore every corner of the grand palace.

As they wandered through the expansive halls, Kiara’s energy was contagious. She tugged at Avantika’s hand and excitedly pointed at intricate tapestries, asking a thousand questions about the history behind them. Yash smiled, indulging her, while Reyansh followed a few steps behind, his gaze occasionally flicking to Avantika, observing her reactions.

Every room they entered seemed to hold a story, each one more lavish than the last. Kiara’s curious nature led them to hidden alcoves and secret stairways, and the group laughed at her antics, her excitement infecting everyone around her. It was in these moments that Avantika felt the walls of the palace begin to come alive, not just with history, but with the warmth of the family she was now a part of.

They reached a balcony overlooking the palace grounds, the sun casting a golden glow over the lush gardens. Radha's voice softened as she said, "This is where we come to escape everything." Avantika felt a sense of awe, the vastness of the palace starting to feel more like home.

Yash, eager to move on, tossed a cushion into the air. "Let's head to the garden!" he called. Reyansh nodded, adding, "It's where we all gather in the evening." Yash, grinning widely, added, "And where the truth or dare game is bound to start tonight!" His teasing made Avantika laugh, and even Reyansh's lips twitched in amusement.

That evening, the grand dining hall was set with a long, ornate table, surrounded by high, arched windows that let in the soft glow of the setting sun. A lavish spread of authentic Rajasthani food was laid out-dal baati churma, gatte ki sabzi, ker sangri, and laal maas, filling the air with rich, spicy aromas. The table was beautifully arranged with shimmering silverware and glistening candles, casting a warm glow over the guests.

Reyansh and Avantika were seated at the center of the table, flanked by their families. Reyansh, always composed, exchanged subtle, yet curious glances with Avantika, trying to make her feel at ease. Around them were Kamini and Raghavendra, Pratap and Aaradhya, Abhiram and Archana. Sayli and Digvijay, Yug and Sneha and all the youngsters.

Kaira who was too exhausted after spending whole day moving around the palace. Playing with her V uncle, Yoo uncle and Radhu bua, hearing stories from Raghavendra and Kamini. Happily roaming around to palace was tugged into the bed.

Kamini, with her graceful demeanor, smiled warmly at Avantika. "It's so lovely to have you with us," she said kindly. Raghavendra, sitting next to her, nodded in agreement. "Yes, you're welcome here as family. Don't hesitate to ask for anything."

Pratap and Aaradhya were eager to make Avantika feel comfortable. Aaradhya asked her, "What do you think of Rajasthan so far? The heat can be a bit overwhelming, but the people make up for it." Avantika smiled, nodding. "It's beautiful, really... and everyone has been so kind."

Across the table, Abhiram and Archana joined in, their voices warm. "The food tonight is a taste of our traditions," Archana explained. "We hope you enjoy it."

Siya and Raghav, seated beside Avantika, couldn't resist teasing her in a playful manner. Raghav leaned in, his grin wide. "You better like the food, or else Reyansh here will have to step in and fix you something special!" Avantika looked at him and glared understanding the double meaning behind it and everyone else in room laughed except Reyansh who gave almost same look like Avantika.

Radha, ever the enthusiastic host, leaned over to Avantika with a plate. "You have to try the laal maas, it's famous in Rajasthan," she said, smiling brightly. Avantika hesitated, eyeing the spicy dish, but took a small bite. "It's really good!" she said, impressed by the bold flavors. Vinesh, who was sitting nearby, nodded. "You won't find anything like it back in Mumbai."

The meal progressed with lively chatter and warm exchanges. Kamini and Raghavendra shared stories from their youth, while Pratap and Aaradhya asked Avantika about her life in Mumbai. Sayli and Digvijay, though seated at the far end, remained quieter, only occasionally joining the conversation.

As dinner concluded. Avantika felt the weight of the moment, the sense of belonging growing as she looked around at the kind faces of Reyansh's family.

With the meal complete, Yash stood up, smiling at Avantika. "Let's head to the garden," he suggested. The group made their way toward the open-air space, the evening promises of laughter and camaraderie hanging in the air.

In the tranquil garden, the cool evening breeze swept through the tall trees, carrying with it the scent of jasmine and rose petals. The atmosphere was light and relaxed, the perfect setting for a game of truth or dare. A few lanterns hung from the branches, casting a soft, flickering light on the group gathered in a circle on the lush green lawn.

Yash, standing at the center, grinned as he looked at the group. "Alright, let's make this interesting," he said, his voice teasing. "No backing out-truth or dare, no matter how wild it gets."

Siya was the first to pick, raising her eyebrow as she looked at Raghav. "Truth or dare?" she asked, a mischievous glint in her eye.

Raghav smirked, leaning back casually. "Dare."

Siya grinned widely. "I dare you to sing a Bollywood song loudly, right here, right now."

Without missing a beat, Raghav stood up, dramatically clearing his throat before belting out a popular song in an exaggerated, theatrical manner. The entire group burst into laughter, with Avantika and Radha clapping along to the beat, much to Raghav's mock annoyance.

Next, it was Avantika's turn. She glanced nervously around the circle, her eyes landing on Reyansh. "Truth," she said softly, hoping to keep things safe.

Reyansh, always the one to enjoy a challenge, smiled wickedly. "Tell us, Avantika, what's the one thing you've never told anyone?"

There was a brief pause as Avantika's eyes widened. She hesitated but then, laughing nervously, responded, "I... I once crashed a wedding with Rohan bhaiya because the food was so good and I didn't want to leave." The group erupted in laughter, with Reyansh and Raghavendra even chuckling, clearly delighted by Avantika's honesty. Avantika remembered her brother which made her eyes moist but she covered it with a smile.

Radha, now eager to ask a question, turned to Yash, "Alright, Yash bhai, truth or dare?" she asked.

Yash, always the daredevil, picked dare without hesitation.

"I dare you to steal a kiss from someone right here!" Radha challenged, her eyes sparkling.

Yash grinned, his gaze flicking to Siya. "Sorry, Siya, looks like I have no choice." He playfully leaned in to give her a cheek on the cheek, causing the group to cheer, while Siya dramatically wiped her cheek with a mock sigh.

The laughter and teasing grew louder as the game continued. Kamini and Raghavendra joined in, with Kamini daring Raghavendra to tell an embarrassing story from his youth, which had everyone in stitches. Even Sayli and Digvijay, who had remained on the sidelines, couldn't help but smile at the unfolding fun.

As the night deepened, the game became more lighthearted and filled with laughter, the bonds between the families growing stronger in the easy camaraderie. Reyansh, still sitting near Avantika, observed the group with quiet satisfaction, glad to see her blending in so effortlessly. It was a perfect evening-one that would be remembered for a long time.

Soon the game wrap up and everyone heads towards their respective rooms.

❤️

It was past midnight when Avantika, unable to sleep, wandered into the grand hallway of the palace. The silence of the night was broken only by the occasional rustle of leaves from the garden outside. She walked aimlessly, her mind still racing from the evening's events.

Suddenly, she heard soft footsteps approaching. She turned, only to find Reyansh emerging from a corridor. He seemed to be as restless as she was, his face lit by the pale moonlight streaming through the windows.

"Couldn't sleep either?" Avantika asked, her voice low, though not surprised to see him.

Reyansh gave a small chuckle, running a hand through his hair. "I guess not," he replied, his tone casual. "Palace can feel... lonely, sometimes."

Avantika nodded in understanding, the weight of the evening's festivities still fresh in her mind. "Yeah, it's strange. The place is so grand, yet it feels empty in the silence."

They both stood there for a moment, the quiet of the palace wrapping around them. Reyansh then gestured down the hallway. "Would you like to walk for a bit? The garden looks beautiful under the moonlight."

Avantika smiled, grateful for the offer. "I'd like that."

They began to walk together, the cool night air brushing against their faces as they passed through the corridors, the faint sound of their footsteps echoing in the silence. The tension from the earlier laughter and games seemed to fade, replaced by a quiet comfort in each other's presence.

As they reached the garden, Reyansh stopped, looking around at the moonlit flowers and the tranquil atmosphere. "It's peaceful here," he remarked, his tone more introspective than before.

Avantika nodded, taking in the beauty of the night. "It is. Sometimes, I think peace is hard to come by. At least for me."

Reyansh's gaze shifted to her, his eyes studying her face in the soft moonlight. "Why do you say that?"

She shrugged, a bit uneasy under his gaze. "I've been through a lot. It's hard to feel at peace when you're constantly trying to adjust and fit in."

Reyansh remained silent for a moment, then said, "You seem to be doing just fine. You blend in better than you think." His words were soft, and Avantika looked up to meet his eyes, surprised by the sincerity in his voice.

"Thank you," she said quietly, unsure of how to respond, but appreciating the sentiment.

Reyansh smiled, the tension between them easing. "You're welcome. I just want you to know you're not alone in this. Whatever comes, I'll be there."

Avantika felt a warmth spread through her at his words. It was the first time someone, especially Reyansh, had said something so reassuring.

They continued walking in comfortable silence for a few more moments, both lost in their own thoughts. Finally, Avantika spoke, her voice quieter than usual. "I never imagined my life would lead me here. But maybe... maybe it's not so bad."

Reyansh glanced at her, his gaze softening. "Maybe it's exactly where you're meant to be."

As they strolled back to the palace, the weight of the world outside seemed far away. It was just them, the moonlight, and the quiet understanding that, perhaps, this night was the beginning of something new for both of them.
